The Hardy Group Completes $35 Million Renovation of Hawaii's Queen Kapi'olani Hotel
The Hardy Group is pleased to announce the completion of Queen Kapi’olani’s $35 million renovation. After nearly a year of construction, the hotel’s 315 guestrooms, corridors, public spaces, fitness center, landscaping, restaurant and third floor pool deck are refreshed and ready for guests’ enjoyment.
In participation with Coral Pacific Construction, Honolulu-based architecture firm G70 and Philpotts Interiors, the Queen Kapiolani Hotel returns with a design inspired by the 1950s and 1960s golden age of Waikiki and featuring iconic views of Diamond Head.
“It was an absolute pleasure to work with ProspectHill Group and Pat Fitzgerald in order to revive the resort as a 4-star property,” says the managing director at The Hardy Group. “Together, we have solidified a unique product in the marketplace to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.”
The complete renovation incorporated relocating the reception desk closer to the porte cochere for a more seamless entry experience, lobby and guestroom renovations, all new furniture and finishes, a revitalized pool deck, new retailers and restaurants, removal of escalators, a new lighting and art package with designs by local artists, a historic art gallery featuring Hawaiian royalty and a collection of famous aloha shirts and surf boards curated by Dale Hope.
In fact, Fitter connected the team with Infografik in Honolulu to not only customize branding for the hotel, but artwork in the style of vintage travel postcards, maps and posters to decorate the corridors – capturing the spirit and history of Waikiki.
Kokua Hospitality will manage the Waikiki resort and oversee facilities. International culinary and hospitality company Plan Do See will operate Deck, the hotel’s third floor outdoor restaurant and bar, as well as Knots Coffee Roasters, a café and bar. The Purchasing Agent was Summa International and the General Contractor was Pacific Construction.
