TownePlace Suites Opens in Nashville's North Capitol District
The Hardy Group is pleased to announce the completion of development and opening of the TownePlace Suites, a Marriott-managed 204 key hotel at 310 Gay Street in the North Capitol neighborhood of Nashville.
The hotel, developed by joint venture partners Deep Cove Partners, LLC, and The Gettys Group, represents a new standard for the TownePlace Suites brand and Nashville Hotels. The project team includes The Hardy Group (Project Manager), DLR Group (Architect), Getty’s One (Interior Designer), Bulley & Andrews (General Contractor), and Populate Procurement (Procurement Agent).
On its nearly one-acre lot at the northwest corner of Gay Street and 3rd Avenue North, strategically located near the Tennessee State Capitol and the Metro Courthouse (the center of Metro Nashville’s Municipal Government), the Hotel will also feature a 4,500 sq. ft. rooftop bar (Zeppelin), ground floor café (Moonshot Coffee Bar), meeting space, complimentary breakfast area, exercise room, and business center.
The project will serve to strategically enhance connectivity between the Central Business District and the popular Germantown Neighborhood of Nashville. An area already occupied by local businesses and government entities, the Hotel is also positioned to anchor the North Capitol neighborhood by offering an original rooftop restaurant and bar, Zeppelin, with indoor and outdoor seating and the ability to feature live music. Moonshot Coffee Bar, an approximately 1,250 SF ground-level space, will offer coffee, other beverages, breakfast, and lunch. Both concepts will be managed by Big Little Fish.
Construction on this project faced the unique challenge of maintaining the schedule during the global COVID-19 pandemic. The team developed new and unprecedented protocols to allow the construction to continue while protecting the health of the various on-site workers. Bulley & Andrews led this initiative by implementing daily temperature readings for all workers, deep cleaning of the job site at the end of each workday, and enforcing mandatory face coverings amongst staff. With these measures in place, the team was able to continue work with minimal interruption.
With travel bans in place, and most of the project team being based out of state, monitoring site progress and quality control was an additional obstacle. Utilizing digital communication and video conferences, The Hardy Group was able to coordinate “virtual” site visits for the design team to review completed work and provide feedback. A Matterport camera was utilized in various areas of the building, this high-resolution camera creates a 360-degree view of the room by orbiting the space from central tripod. The result is an interactive virtual model, that can be used to view the most minute of details from the comfort of one’s home office. This technology will be used to aid the final punch prior to the turnover of the property.
